Presenter Instructions

Abstract Submission Deadline is Midnight EDT on Friday, September 20, 2019.

Congratulations on your undergraduate research experience! A key component to research is presenting and sharing the findings with the scientific community. Three common ways to share scientific findings with the scientific community are: publishing a manuscript, oral presentations, and poster presentations. The Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Chemical and Biological Sciences provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to present their research in the chemical or biological sciences as poster presentations only.

Due to space constraints, we do have a maximum limit of one poster per individual presenter. The exception to this poster limit is when a student has their own individual research project and the student is also co-presenting on a collaborative research project. In this case, the student would have a 2nd poster affiliated with their collaborative research team.

In order to present research in the form of a poster presentation during the Symposium, please follow these steps:

  1. Write Abstract

    Use the abstract template.

  2. Review Abstract (by Mentor)

Edits may be necessary before final approval is given from your mentor. Please plan your time appropriately for this process.

  3. Submit Abstract

Read the requirements carefully before submitting your abstract.

  4. Prepare Presentation – A “Taller than Wider” Poster

Presentation Preparation includes practicing your presentation as well as developing your poster.  The maximum poster size is 36-inches wide by 42-inches high (~92 cm x ~107 cm). These dimensions are taller than wider to ensure that two posters can fit side-by-side on a campus poster display unit. Read the list of guidelines for best practices for presenters.

NOTE:  STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PRINTING THEIR OWN POSTERS

  5. Present Research

Remember to smile and enjoy the experience.
Poster session assignments will be posted no earlier than two weeks prior to the event.
